This chart measures the exports from Ukraine. We can see a decline in the exports, meaning that the Ukranians exported less than they usually did, due to the war in the Donbas and the annexation of Crimea. This had a heavy toll on the economy because these places were important in Ukraine's economy. 5 years before this, tensions were mounting between Ukraine and Russia, and small skirmishes had been occurring, leading up to this event. They hadn't impacted the economy much, but these two events had caused a financial crisis. The two events impact exports specifically because many factories were in the affected region, causing them to either shut down or make products for Russians instead. In the years following, the exports are normal.
